West Park 2009 turned out to be quite an eventful weekend.
The weather was typically British originally, but as the clouds cleared and the sun broke out, so did the T-shirts and the enjoyment began. We had two successful shows on the Saturday and the warm weather carried us into a pleasant evening around the camp fire.

The picture doesn't really do the weather any justice, but I can assure you it was warm enough by this time to have a number of the riders sweating under the collar. The picture is of the three point arrow head cross as they approach each other at high speed, aiming for the back wheel of the bike in front. No time to break or veer out of way here, it's 100% commitment from each of the riders.

And here in the thick of the action from the middle of the cross you can appreciate the speed and nerve of the riders as they accelerate towards each other only to miss the back wheel by a fraction in this exciting part of the twenty five minute display routine.

During the event, we met up with an old friend called "Gizmo". He's now become an affiliated member of the club and as you can see from the photo he loves to be ferried around in our sidecar during the events where we meet up. Be careful not to slow down too much though lads, he loves the wind under his wings.

| Here you can see Gizmo posing for a Photo with Josh, who unfortunately had a tumble during the first display on the second day during the final heat of the relay. He managed to break his left arm just above the elbow, but was soon up and waving to the crowd (with the other arm of course!). Josh is now enjoying the start of his full-term holiday at home, allbeit with his arm in a sling. He says a big thankyou to all those concerned for him at the display and assures everyone that he'll be back for the next season. |

And once again here's Gizmo posing for the camera, but this time on the shoulder of Josh's Grandad and one of the original founders of the Piston Ring club Dennis Bates.
You can find out more about Gizmo and other Parrots like him at Avian Parrot Healthcare |
A big thankyou to everyone who supports the club and those that came to see the show, we sincerely hope you enjoyed it.
We look forward to seeing you at our next event in Shustoke on the 1st August.
See you there.
